Fairy tale
Why do people call love a fairytale?
A cute handsome prince, a perfect princess so frail.
Books show happy endings tied up with a golden thread,
but in real life, even after trying the story ends instead.
Yes that same fairytale where the prince and princess fell in love so well,
love blooming on a sunny day, both laughing in their hearts as well.
Everything felt sweet, soft, lovey-dovey, perfectly fine,
until months, then years, made something quietly fall out of line.
Understanding started to itch,
communication got a silent glitch.
The princess kept trying to knot the broken string,
but somehow the prince couldn’t hold on to a single thing.
Still, they both tried, reaching out with every breath,
but the princess grew tired, drained to her depth.
So she chose peace over pain, silence over cries
and the prince realised his faults, but too late for goodbyes.
Feelings faded... the magic slipped from her hand.
Tell me was the princess wrong for choosing where to stand?
Should she have fought a battle that tore her apart?
Or was walking away the bravest choice for her heart?
I wish fairytales showed endings that hurt and bend,
to teach humans that stories have another side too,
a truth we often pretend.
And so... this is how the fairytale ends.
Yes the beautiful fairytale finally came to its end.
